Tips for cleaning and maintenance of our bathroom furniture

General Conditions

Fundamentally not recognized as a complaint is the swelling up of the material through excessive contact with water, in particular the areas of the edges from wash-basin cabinets.

Our bathroom furniture is suitable for a normal bathroom climate. Withstands a higher air humidity for short periods (relative air humidity> 90%), provided that this can be serviced by a sufficient ventilation system. Any form of humidity or moisture (wetness) should be immediately removed with a dry cloth.

Outside of the guarantee however are damages which originate from an improper assembly, poor maintenance, or unsuitable conditions; in particular wet conditions.

In General

The appearance of stains/soiling should always be removed immediately when possible, thus avoiding as a rule the use of cleaning agents.

Best suited for the cleaning of the surfaces is a soft, damp cloth with lukewarm water. Where surfaces connect, they should be rubbed dry. When cleaning agents are to be used, these should be recognised household goods and water- dissolvable.

Never to be used are caustic liquid cleaners, solutions of a Nitrate basis, as well as aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents. Silicone-containing polishes, wax, or steam cleaners should never be used as this could lead to permanent damage.

Melamin-resin laminated surfaces

For the cleaning you should use only recognised household and water dissolvable cleaning agents. Best of all clean coated surfaces with a soft, damp cloth and lukewarm water. Using a wet cloth will lead to the penetration of water into the joints and therefore swelling of the surfaces. After cleaning all surfaces should be dried immediately.

Never use aggressive or abrasive agents, silicone-containing polishes, wax or steam cleaners. It is recommended to test any cleaning agents beforehand in an unobtrusive area of the furniture.

Mirrored surfaces

It is completely sufficient to clean mirrored surfaces with a damp chamois. Should the mirrored surfaces be heavily marked, you can fall back on customary, commercial glass cleaners. The mirrored surfaces and above all the edges should be wiped dry immediately after cleaning to avoid smearing.

Lacquered surfaces

The surfaces of the high gloss areas consists of several paint layers. This is protected by applying a special varnish (paintwork) with a high resistance to wear and tear.

These should be cleaned using only recognised household and water-dissolvable cleaning agents. When using microfibre cloths always be aware they can have different surface structures and can lead under certain circumstances to damage to the fronts.

You should not use aggressive or abrasive agents, as well as no silicone-containing polishes. It is recommended to test any cleaning agents beforehand in an unobtrusive area of the furniture.

Solid bamboo and wooden surfaces

Wood, as well as bamboo, are ´working´ materials with a natural colour structure and different wood grains which lie basically beyond our guarantee. Through different light and solar rays the wood can receive natural discolorations on its surfaces.

This is therefore no ground for complaint. Wood ´works´ when confronted by different air humidities. Therefore wood should not be exposed to extremely dry or extremely humid (moist) air.

For processed wood the standard air humidity of 45 to 70% is ideal. Hence during showering a sufficient ventilation system should be provided.

The surfaces are protected by high-quality, multi-layer varnishes, so that they are widely insensitive to staining/soiling. The surfaces should be cleaned only with a slightly damp cloth and lukewarm water.

It is recommended to clean and wipe dry always in the direction of the wood grain so that humidity remains can be avoided in the joints, corners, and edges of the furniture.

Stains/soiling must not be allowed to dry out – they must therefore be removed immediately. Aggressive or abrasive agents, silicone-containing polishes, wax, or steam cleaners should never be used for cleaning purposes.

Ceramic wash-basin

For the cleaning of the ceramic wash-basin we recommend a recognised household cleaning agent. For the removal of lime or metal deposits, recommended is the use of a recognised household stainless steel cleaning agent. Please be careful not to drop any articles into the basin as this could cause permanent damage!

Mineral cast wash-basin

The regular cleaning of mineral downpour surfaces can also be made here with a simple, damp to wet cloth. Normally you need only lukewarm water to carry out the cleaning. Staining/soiling of every kind should be removed immediately. If this does not happen, lasting spots on the surface originate in most cases. Particular attention should be paid to hair-colour dyes, make-up, nail varnishes and various other cosmetic articles.

Also be aware that metal containers, such as hairspray cans, should not be left to long on the wet edges of the basin as this can lead to lasting rust stains. If however, you do notice some rust stains, clean them immediately with, for example, a dirt rubber. If not acted upon, it can lead to permanent staining. Also when ´splash´ water is produced wipe dry immediately so impeding damage to the basin edges and also to the cabinet that lies beneath through water running down its sides.

To keep the high gloss surfaces and the pearl-effect, we recommend a regular application of a household recognised oil and silicon-free car polish containing no abrasive contents.

Handles / Knobs

The handles and knobs can be cleaned with standard household cleaners with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use chrome cleaner or any other aggressive, abrasive cleaning agent.

Plastic objects and decorative trim

The drawers, plastic trays and plastic edging are best cleaned with a mild washing-up liquid and damp cloth. Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents.

When you take heed of all the tips given, you will bring longevity to your bathroom furniture.
